About the Society

The Orange County Historical Society, is a research, archival, and educational organization, dedicated to the discovery, preservation, and dissemination of the history of Orange County, of its people, and the surrounding area. The Society's reference library contains over 1,500 volumes, and there are over 500 files with information on families, historic buildings, events and sites, plus a map and photograph collection.
These are made available for the education, research and enjoyment of the public. Our resources and office are located at the Howe-Waffle House and Medical Museum, 120 Civic Center Dr. West in Santa Ana. Please call for an appointment (714) 543-8282

In addition to its monthly newsletter, the Society pursues an active publications programs, involving books as well as pamphlets. (See Books for Sale). Regular membership meetings include presentations on subjects of interest to the membership and are held on the second Thursday of each month (excluding July and August). The September meeting is a dessert potluck held at Sherman Library and Gardens in Corona del Mar and begins our program year.

To become a member please check our Membership. Membership makes a terrific gift! Give your friends and relatives a wonderful and different gift this year and support the work of the society at the same time.
Please consider us for your company's matching gift program! Many companies will match an employee's donation to a non-profit charity. Have your company make their check payable to Orange County Historical Society.

We would be remiss if we did not note that the Society is a 501(c)(3) organization to which deductible (and greatly appreciated) charitable contributions may be made.
